Week 2 blog assignment

This week you should develop your internal and external ethics statement.  Your assignment is to define and list what should be addressed in an internal and external ethics statement.  Each group should list 2 topics for internal and 2 external ethics statement topics to be addressed. The 2nd person in each group will post a summary on the blog.  This assignment is worth 2 points.

  1. Internal ethics are concerned with the well being of the employees, employee-customer satisfaction, benefits, wages, representation, and the businesses environmental standing.
    External ethics are concerned with the wider ramifications of the businesses actions. This looks at the impacts the business will have on the society and the environment.
    Topics for internal ethics should inlcude ways to use less paper and implement light sensitive auto switches in the adjusting rooms to conserve electricity.
    Topics for external ethics should devise a payment option for low income individuals and charity contributions to be made in the community.

  2. The internal ethics statement should include all aspects of the employer/employee relationship. It should specify the rights and responsabilities each individual involved in the business has to each other. It should include topics such as harassment policies, personal belonging storage and employee hygiene.
    The external ethics statement should be a document that spells out the business' self described responsibilities to its customers, the community, and other businesses in the area. It should include things like patient privacy policies, advertisment policies and local social program involvement.

  3. The internal ethics should include some qualities of the 33 principles, the art, science and the philosophy of chiropractic as it pertains to the individual practice. It will also include each individuals role in their practice.
    The External ethics statement will include key words such as honesty, confidentiality, and a detailed but short description of what the practice will be responsible for to its customers and the community as a whole. It will also include good morality, judgement and the interest in offering a quality filled health care.

  4. The internal ethics statement will address the requirements of all employees to abide by the office policies regarding personal conduct. This will ensure a professional atmosphere within the office and will limit discrepancy among employees if a situation should arise. Things to be considered in the internal ethics statement would include but are not limited to: dress code, answering the phone, greeting patients, use of office facilities, giving patients advice if you are not the doctor.

    The external ethics statement will address professional conduct in the chiropractic office with regards to all state and federal laws, insurance, billing, HIPAA, and marketing. External ethics will play a vital role in abiding by laws and projecting a positive image to the public.

  5. Ones internal ethics statement is what one person upholds themselves to in their life. In chiropractic this should include your personal mission statement, your view on patient care, what you believe is right and wrong or your personal philosophy of chiropractic. It is basically the "rules" you uphold your self to every day.

    An external ethics statement is how you project your internal ethics statemet along with following the accepted ethics of the people and community around you. These include rules and laws.

Internal ethics should include the qualities/values the Chiropractor brings to how they run their internal office procedures and interact with their employees based off of their integrity, honesty, compassion, and communication. Their own personal Chiropractic philosophy should also be an influence.
    External ethics should include the general business principles for running an office and interacting with patients that have their best interests at heart. This also involves the office marketing, advertising, billing and how the community at large percieves the practice.
    How the Chiropractic profession as a whole is percieved should also should be a factor for running an office.

  7. Internal ethics is creating a strong and positive atmosphere where employees are treated positive and understand their rights and responsibilities with in the business. This includes communication between employees, knowing job responsibilities and rules, maximizing business materials and providing great customer care.
    External ethics is the business's responsibility to the customer and community. This includes billing, following HIPAA guidelines and social programs.

  8. Internal ethic statements are the personal policies of the business. These should address how the business is ran to be efficient, fair, and effective providing the best care, and environment to those the office serves. These should include items such as a dress code, how to answer phone calls, patient scheduling, making each office personnel aware of their exact role in the business and ensure each individual knows that role and knows not to provide professional advise unless advised by the treating Dr.

    External ethics statements are the policies surrounding the office guided by local, state, and federal laws. The office should adhere to and make policies ensuring these laws of the land are included and practiced enabling the business to be a positive example to the community and society and especially those the office serves.

Internal ethics should include topics such as best practice guidelines when providing care for patients, an outlined plan of doctor and patient interactions and the responsibilities of the doctor to the patient. It should also clearly define the responsibilities and roles of the employees and office staff. HIPPA issues should also be clearly explained.
    External ethics Should focus on how chiropractic is portrayed to the community such as promoting the chiropractic profession in an honest and truthful manner. It should also focus on your practices ideals and philosophy on patient care and topics that are germane to chiropractic. The impact and influence your practice wishes to have on the community you serve should be discussed.

  10. Internal ethics should include how the office is ran, such as to what is expected from each employee, whether it be dress code, answering phones or helping out the patients. Good employee/employee and employee/patient interactions will help provide not only a healthy work environment for employees but also a nice place for the patients.
    External ethics include how the office is ran according and following state and federal guidelines. Also, we should honestly advertise ourselves and present ourselves to the public in a professional way.

Internal ethics statements should including the integrity and moral relationships between a chiropractor and his patients, staff and office.  As chiropractors, we have to recognizes the ethical dimensions of clinical practice and the choices necessary to maintaining our ethical integrity as doctors of chiropractic.
    Topics that need addressing relating to the internal ethics of the doctor is their direct relationship between “the doctor and the patient” and the long term treatment of the patient.  The professionalism of the doctor is an integral part that should set a standard for all doctors. The long term treatment of the patient should be keep as efficient and goal oriented as possible thus the patient feels comfortable with the treatment schedule and gets the most beneficial results.
    External ethics statements should follow suite as the internal ethics statement but be more focused towards and pertaining to the integrity and moral relationships outside the office setting. Such as, the chiropractors relationship with other medical professionals and how a chiropractor portraits himself to his community.
    Topics that need to be directly focused on concerning external ethics pertains to the doctors presentation of himself and chiropractic to his community.  This presentation must include the chiropractic role in healthcare and the legal obligations as a healthcare provider.

  12. The internal ethics of a chiropractic office sets the tone and efficiency of the office, staff and the doctor. One of the topics that should be addressed is the ability of those working in the office, both staff and doctor, to give 100% of their personal time commitment to those patients coming in the door for care. Another is what type of compensation is given for those that give their best to the patients that walk in the door.
    External ethics are what can be done to help the public understand the benefits of not only chiropractic but of the chiropractic service the office provides. One of the topics addressed is the ability of the staff and doctor to talk about the benefits of chiropractic during patient encounters inside and outside the office. Another is making sure that the patient information is kept safe and confidential within the office; as in making sure the patient’s information is not spoken about outside closed doors.

  13. Internal ethics should include rules and regulations for employees within your business. Employees should know what to do in different situations that might occur in your practice. Also what your philosophy is as a doctor and how you are going to present yourself to your patients is important and being true to yourself as a chiropractor.
    External ethics should include things such as how to deal with insurance companies, treatments for patients, being a community icon, co-manage with other medical professions.

    Internal ethics statements are intended for the use of the employees in regards to the policies and proceedures pertaining to job expectations.
    Topics include dress and speech. Employees are to dress professionally and be well groomed. Language that may be considerd unprofessional should be avoided so to maintain a comfortable working environment.

    External ehtics include pateint and community interaction. HIPPA complience needs to be emphasized to ensure that patients' rights are protected. Fair and proper billing practices must be followed to ensure patient satisfaction and complience with the law.

  15. Internal ethics statements are the personal relationship between a chiropractor and a patient (,or a staff) while he is working in the office.

    Topics are including telling a true and treating like a family. When a doctor doesn’t know what is going on, he has to tell a true. When he treat staff in the clinic, there is no such a thing inferiority or discrimination.

    External ethics statements are the following the law and the public service.

    Topics are including the Child abuse and helping people whenever he takes as the law of Samaritan. Even though people who a doctor knows really closely get punished when people abuse their child, so the doctor needs to report it. According to the law of Samaritan, a doctor need to focus on the patient first instead; otherwise, what’s different from a business man.

Internal ethics is concerned with creating ethical awareness of eployee through guidance and education on ethics expected in the practice.which would include:Code of ethics,dress code,means of office communication,reporting mechanism,audit systems.That are to be followed while working in the office.

    Extenal ethic involves how the staff conduct them self infront of the patient.which includes to show respect to patients,provide service without descrimination,follow law at times,be honest with any information you pass to clients, strive to offer excellent care at all times.
